The Bramble Academy is committed to ensuring that all children receive a broad and rich PE curriculum. The following curriculum map has been created to ensure that all year groups cover the relevant objectives, as set out by the National Curriculum for England and Wales, for their Key Stage. Where year groups are receiving support in the form of Specialist and Qualified Coaches, this has been indicated on the map under the relevant section.
The Bramble Academy works alongside a number of Specialist Coaches in order to ensure the highest possible standards of PE for all children. The Specialist Coaches are used as part of Continuous Professional Development (CPD) for staff to ensure that their knowledge and skills are kept up to date. They are also used to ensure that children are accessing a wide variety of sporting activities and to broaden their experiences of sport and physical activity from a young age.
Providers that The Bramble Academy have used so far during the 2016-2017 academic year include:
The Bramble Academy are committed to providing a PE curriculum which not only promotes an active lifestyle, but also a healthy lifestyle. This includes making healthy food choices and educating the children on how we can all make healthier adaptions to our lifestyle. The Bramble Academy worked in partnership with Mansfield District Council who delivered 6 weekly 1 hour sessions where children were taught how to make a variety of healthy meals, were given the option to try a range of different fruits and vegetables and were educated on different healthy choices and adaptions that they could make to their own lifestyles.
At the start of the 2016-2017 academic year, The Bramble Academy made it a PE priority to achieve the School Games Mark Bronze Award as a minimum achievement. In order to achieve this, the school has made a commitment to ensure that all year groups participate in a minimum of 2 hours of sport or physical activity every week. The school has also made a commitment to ensure that more sporting competitions and festivals are available to all children. The school joined the Mansfield School Sports Partnership in October 2016 and are now working closely with the School Games Organiser (SGO) who organises and runs a number of competitions and festivals which The Bramble Academy have entered at no additional charge.
