At The Bramble Academy we take every opportunity to actively encourage children to seek Social, Moral, Spiritual and Cultural development.
All staff, children, parents and volunteers share these fundamental rights:
- The right to be treated with respect and fairness.
- The right to teach and learn without distraction or disruption from others.
- The right to feel safe in our learning community.
- The right to equality and individuality.
We understand that with these rights come shared responsibilities. These responsibilities form the basis of our school rules:
- We try our hardest to be the best that we can be.
- We take care of ourselves and of each other.
- We respect and look after our environment.
- We use kind, courteous voices.
- We move sensibly around our school.
Our rights, responsibilities and rules form a contract which is signed by every adult and child in our school community.
- All children vote for their School Council and School prefects
- The School Council is led Miss Gibbs and follows democratic processes
- We are developing links with the local primary schools in our area and the local secondary school, Manor Academy to develop a Family of Schools Council
- All children, regardless of year group are encouraged to express their views
- Within school pupils are encouraged to make choices within a safe and supportive environment.
- As a school we develop decision making skills enabling pupils to make sensible and informed choices.
- Through the provision of curriculum clubs and opportunities, pupils are given the freedom to make choices.
- We support pupils to develop their self-esteem and self-confidence.
The Rule of Law
- We have a new clear, structured behaviour policy which is understood by all.
- School has links with the local police who visit school to talk about the law.
- Assemblies may have a focus on doing right / wrong and the consequences of our actions.
- Through PSHCE and citizenship pupils learn why we have laws and their purpose in society.
- Through PE we promote the concept of fair play, equality and fairness
Mutual Respect and Tolerance of those of Different Faiths and Beliefs
- Our RE curriculum provides a broad and balanced overview of a range of faiths and religions.
- PSHCE learning includes life in the wider community and the wider world.
- We include visits to different places of worship and visitors from other faiths as part of the curriculum.
- Our PSHCE curriculum embodies values of mutual respect for example through the relationships unit.
- We challenge prejudicial or discriminating behaviour.
