SEND & Inclusion

At Bramble Academy, we are committed to ensuring that children get the best support we can offer, in order to help them to enjoy their learning, feel confident and happy amongst their friends and make the best progress possible.

We recognise that pupils are individuals with individual needs. Pupils learn at different rates and in different ways, with many factors that influence children’s achievement and attainment. Sometimes children need special support to give them an extra boost or to help them catch up with other children of the same age. They may need this support for a short period of time or a longer period, but during this time they will be part of our Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) Register and we will monitor their progress, look carefully at what special support they need and keep in close touch with their parents/ carers. Our Trust Special Educational Needs and Disability Coordinator (SENDCo) is Sarah Bailey-Wiles who works with staff in school to co-ordinate the inclusion team to provide additional support to our more vulnerable pupils. Please do not hesitate to contact us should you require any assistance.

The SEND Local Offer...

brings together information that will be helpful to children and young people with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND) and their families. The SEND Local Offer is intended to help you to find information about services and provision that are available or signpost you to somebody who can provide you with the information you need, through one easily searchable website which can be accessed at

www.nottinghamshire.sendlocaloffer.org.uk

Bramble Academy supports many children with a wide range of additional and special needs. For some children these needs are ongoing, for others it may be a shorter term interaction. Some children come to our school with clearly identified needs whilst others may be seeking a better understanding of their difficulties as they grow older.

Our top priority is to ensure that the day to day teaching for our children is right, resulting in happy and confident children who move forwards with their learning and maximise their potential in every way possible. Through close and regular monitoring of progress, both academically and emotionally, and through close communication with parents, we are able to target our support in a range of ways individually tailored for each child. This can include additional in-class support, small group support or even one-to-one support.

As well as providing help in school we link closely with other outside agencies to provide support for our children and their families. We enjoy close links with the SFSS which include Speech and Language Service, the Communication and Interaction team and Educational Psychologists. These services can provide advice and assessment when needed but also the reassurance to parents that school are catering well for our most vulnerable pupils.
