Daily Routines


At The Bramble Nursery we learn through play and a balance of child led and adult initiated activities. Our sessions are based around the needs of the children, the key questions we are answering and the interests of the children.

The below information gives details of daily routines followed by Nursery and Foundation children.



Nursery Daily Routine

Morning

8:45 am - We come into Nursery and hang up our coats and bags. After this we go and join our friends in our classroom, where our teacher does our register and daily timetable.

9:00 am - Next, we all join in with Dough Disco. This helps to get our fingers stronger.

9:05am – After this, we split into two groups for Phonics.

9:30 am – Then we go and choose what we would like to explore and play with in Nursery. The grown-ups lead small groups, which centre around our story of the week. During this time, we also get the chance to free flow around our inside environment.

10:15 am - We stop and go into our group room for our milk and fruit, where we listen to a story, or we talk about what we have been learning.

10:30 am - We go outside for playtime with our friends from F2

10:45 am - Straight after snack time we have our second group session, where we will again split into two groups for Number work.

11:00am - We continue to free flow and play with our friends. This is when the grown-ups may lead small groups, which centre around our maths work.

11:35am - We go to the toilet and wash our hands ready for lunch time if we are staying at school or if we are going home, we have a story and get ready to go home.

11:45am – We go to lunch or we go home.

Afternoon

11:45am - We eat our dinner in the school hall with all of the other children and then we get to play outside in our Nursery Playground.

12:30pm - Lunchtime has now finished and we return to the group room for our afternoon registration. Afterwards, we go back into Nursery to sing songs and rhymes.

1:00pm – We start our afternoon learning. There is always an adult led activity, this might be Arts and Crafts, Social Skills work or an activity based on Knowledge and Understanding of the world. We go to the ICT suite once a week too and we often visit the library in town.

We continue to play and free flow within the environment.

2.00pm – We go outside to play again.

2.15pm – We continue with our learning activities

2: 50pm - To complete our day we will either sing our favourite nursery rhymes or read a story in our reading corner.

3.05pm - Lastly, we get our coats and our bags ready for home time at 3:15pm.


Foundation Daily Routine

Morning

8:45 am - We come into School and hang up our coats and bags. After this we go and join our friends in our classroom, where our teacher does our register and daily timetable.

9:00 am - Next, we all join in with Dough Disco. This helps to get our fingers stronger.

9:05 am – After this, we split into two groups for Phonics.

9:30 am – We have a short English whole class time, then we split into groups. Every day we work with an adult and then we do independent English based activities.

10:15 am - We stop and sit on the carpet for our milk and fruit, where we listen to a story, or we talk about what we have been learning.

10:30 am - We go outside for playtime with our friends from Nursery

10:45 am - Straight after snack time we have our second whole class time, this time we learn about Maths.

11:00 am - We continue to free flow and play with our friends. This is when the grown-ups may lead small groups, which centre around our Maths work. Every day we work with an adult and then we do independent Maths based activities.

11:35 am - We go to the toilet and wash our hands ready for lunch time.

Afternoon

11:45 am - We eat our dinner in the school hall with all of the other children and then we get to play outside in our Playground.

12:30 pm - Lunchtime has now finished and we return to the group room for our afternoon registration.

12.40 pm – We learn to read and write our Tricky Words with games and rhymes.

1:00 pm – We start our afternoon learning. There is always an adult led activity, this might be Arts and Crafts, Social Skills work or an activity based on Knowledge and Understanding of the world. We go to the ICT suite once a week too and we often visit the library in town.

We continue to play and free flow within the environment.

2.00 pm – We go outside to play again.

2.15 pm – We continue with our learning activities

2: 50 pm - To complete our day we will either sing our favourite nursery rhymes or read a story in our reading corner.

3.05 pm - Lastly, we get our coats and our bags ready for home time at 3:15pm.
