At The Bramble Academy, we believe that learning an additional language will inspire a curiosity about the world and other cultures. French lessons follow the Kapow Scheme of learning in Key Stage 2 and focus on the use of repetition and recall. The teaching sequence ensures that there are always a variety of learning activities such as: games, drawing, oral sentences, writing, music and interactive games. We want children at The Bramble Academy to develop a love of an additional language which will continue into secondary school and even beyond, giving them the confidence communicate with different people from a variety of cultures. We have taken a 3-year staged approach to our French curriculum, to ensure that all children have the necessary foundation skills and prior knowledge they need to achieve. We are in year 1 of the roll out of this phased approach.
